ITINERARY

3 DAY LUXURY DESERT CAMP ADD-ON to ERG CHIGAGA*
$1100 usd/pp (2 people) if more people join, price will drop!

DAY 1
7AM
Depart from Marrakech
The route to the camp is via The Tizi n’Tichka pass (and the High Atlas Mountains), the kasbah of Ait Bennadou and less visited Kasbahs along the way, passing through Ouarzazate and the stunning Draa Valley (home to 3 million date palms) and the small town of Tamegroute (where a distinctive green-glazed pottery is made and an ancient Koranic library is to be found). Eventually, you will reach ‘the last outpost of civilization´, the village of M´Hamid El Ghizlane, where the tar road ends.
From now on, the route is off-road.
The trip to the desert is in a 4x4 Land Cruiser (9hr) with an English speaking driver. Because the trip is private, you may stop as often as you like en route for sightseeing, photography and refreshments. Our drivers are informative and flexible.
They will also advise on suitable places to stop for photographs - but ultimately the decision regarding where to stop is yours!

NIGHTS 1 and 2
Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp.
Two nights in the desert let you fall into the rhythm of the dunes, light and sounds. We will arrive in the evening and go straight to the camp, and in the morning you have a choice of hiking to the top of a dune for sunrise, or going for a camel ride for as long, or short as you like! There is sand-boarding, guided walks and cooking lessons with bread baking in the sand.

The price includes all food and drink…so you can eat and rehydrate (or dehydrate) to your heart’s content! But when not relaxing, dozing in the hammock or reading a book or sipping a cold drink, there is plenty to do…
In the evenings, we will have open fires, , then sing-alongs and plenty of tea and stargazing.

DAY 3
Return to Marrakech. The return trip follows a different route and takes approximately 8 hours. The route is more direct and more remote, but the scenery is equally stunning. Your rejoin the main road just before the Tizi n’Tichka pass, before proceeding over the Atlas Mountains. You may depart at anytime from the camp.

NOTE: The camp has many relaxing areas and hammocks. Each tent has a king-size bed (which can be made into 2 singles). There are ‘wall-to-wall’ plush rugs, a full-length mirror, bedside tables, solar-powered lighting, an armchair and space to hang your clothes. Each item has been handmade in Morocco. We have also sourced high quality individual sprung mattresses, percale cotton sheets, duck down duvets and lovely pillows. The en-suite bathroom has a toilet, dressing table and silver pewter buckets for washing.

*It is also possible to stop at a beautiful hotel along the way on the first day, to break up the long first drive. And making this a three night four day trip.
